Maple Mania Exhibit September 14-November 2

MAPLE MANIA in LaPorte County is the newest exhibit being presented at the Symphony Center & Gallery, located in downtown LaPorte, IN, at 614 Lincolnway beginning September 14, 2007 through November 2, 2007. Gallery hours are Friday and Saturday, 11:00 - 2:00.

This exhibit opens with a reception on September 14 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. and is open to the public.

MAPLE MANIA features artwork from area artists. This exhibit is the result of a jury selection of entries with an emphasis on the sights or symbols of our fair city of LaPorte as well as areas within LaPorte County. The exhibit is in celebration of the Fall season. Leaves are in!

In the lower gallery we present WOOD WORKS, an exhibit of the wood carvings from craftsmen, Ron Pliske, of Michigan City, and Dan Weigel and Arnold Bass, of LaPorte.

Also at the Gallery we welcome Robert R. Williams, of St. Joseph, Michigan, who will be the Guest artist during the Heart of Art Studio & Gallery Tour on Saturday, October 13 and Sunday, October 15. This is a self-directed tour throughout LaPorte County those two days. Some of Robert's work will be on display throughout the duration of MAPLE MANIA and WOOD WORKS.

Robert specializes in portraits in pastel and oil and is known for the realistic yet vibrant skin tones he achieves in his pastels. He regularly does charcoal sketches at art fairs throughout the Midwest and does commissioned portraits in his studio at the Box Factory for the Arts in St. Joseph, MI where he teaches portrait drawing and painting.

Available as well are the many gifts located in the Gallery Shop. More than twenty (20) artists are represented in the Shop at this time.
