The La Porte County Symphony Orchestra Presents: The Shirley Lubeznik “Let the Games Begin!” Family Concert
Combining the love of music and sports, the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra presents the exciting Shirley Lubeznik “Let the Games Begin!” Family Concert at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2007 at the Elston Middle School Theatre, 317 Detroit Street, Michigan City. The Concert is sponsored by Mrs. Shirley Lubeznik and Family, the Matthew Frank Moore Foundation with additional support from the Michigan City Community Enrichment Corporation and Indiana University Northwest.
This action-packed afternoon will begin at 2:00 pm with a tailgate party in the cafeteria. Activities will include face painting provided by the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, and soccer practice provided by the Michigan City YMCA. There will also be instrument tryouts where children can actually play musical instruments provided by Quinlan & Fabish with the assistance of orchestra members. Rusty the Railcat the mascot for the Gary SouthShore Railcats will make a guest appearance.
The concert which begins at 3:00 pm will have music for all the sports enthusiasts. From College fight songs to Parade of the Charioteers there is sure to be something of interest for everyone. The featured music selection on the concert will be “Casey at the Bat” narrated by Mark Krentz. Throughout the concert there will be plenty of occasions for audience participation. A special appearance by Ronald McDonald is also planned.
Children will be admitted free to the concert and pre-concert activities. Adults with this article will receive a $5 discount on a $15 general admission ticket.
