12 finalists will prepare for the chance to participate in a competition on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the La Porte Civic Auditorium, 1001 Ridge Street, La Porte, Indiana.  These selected finalists will be accompanied by the Hoosier STAR Orchestra, an outstanding  group of musicians that are assembled by Phil Bauman, the energetic music director and conductor of the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra.  It promises to be a program that is entertaining and full of surprises.  Dreams are fulfilled as contestants perform in this exciting competition where entertaining musical performances unfold.  Maestro Bauman and the orchestra work diligently to bring out the star qualities of each contestant.

The next step for these finalists is a photography session with Bukva Imaging Group. After their photo shoot each contestant will work with Maestro Bauman to determine the best song for their performance.  Ticket sales will begin, the civic will be transformed and a new Hoosier Star winner will be determined by audience vote.

The evening was incredible for this fundraising event benefiting the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra.   Congratulations to all the contestents on a thrilling evening of vocal talent.


There are two age divisions:

  • Youth- 17 and under
  • Adult - 18 and older
    (Contestant's age at the time of auditions)

6 finalists from each division have been selected for 12 contestants to compete on September 17, 2011!
