Auditions for Hoosier Star 2012

Attention all singers...
This is your chance to become a STAR!

The 2012 Finalists have been chosen!

The shine of Hoosier STAR sparkles as contestants warm up their voices in competition.  On March 17 & 18 a panel of judges will select 12 finalists, six in the youth division (17 & under) and six in the adult division (18 & over). Vocalists may choose to sing all types of music such as classical, Broadway, country, gospel, pop, rock, jazz, opera, or blues.  This contest is open to amateur soloists only;  no duets or group performances may enter.  For auditions, applicants may provide their own accompanist, use a CD with no lead vocals, or sing a cappella.

From the audition, the judges 12 finalists will prepare for the chance to participate in a competition on Saturday, September 15, 2012 at the La Porte Civic Auditorium, 1001 Ridge Street, La Porte, Indiana.  These selected finalists will be accompanied by the Hoosier STAR Orchestra, an outstanding  group of musicians that are assembled by Phil Bauman, the energetic music director and conductor of the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra.  It promises to be a program that is entertaining and full of surprises.  Dreams are fulfilled as contestants perform in this exciting competition where entertaining musical performances unfold.  Maestro Bauman and the orchestra work diligently to bring out the star qualities of each contestant.

The winners of the September competition win prize money, but it doesn't come easy as an interesting twist to this competition is that the audience in attendance at the September 17 performance votes to determine the winners.  The top finishers in the Adult Division will receive cash awards of $1,000 for first place and $500 for second place. The top winners in the Youth Division will receive cash awards of $500 for first place and $250 for second place.
