Whether young or old, student or teacher we have materials that
will enlighten, inspire and amplify your live orchestral experience.
For students we have
several unique opportunities for them to actively participate
with the LCSO. We offer a Young Artist
Competition open to any young instrumental musician through
grade 12 and we have a Student Apprentice program which places
qualified candidates within the orchestra ranks for subscription
concerts.
Young
Artist Competition - Takes place in May. The winner(s)
perform with the LaPorte County Symphony
Orchestra in the following season on a Classic Subscription Concert.
The competition is open to instrumental musicians through
grade 12 and though are a full-time resident
in Northwest Indiana (Jasper, Lake, La Porte, Porter, Marshall,
Pulaski, St. Joseph or Starke County) or Southwest Michigan
(Berrien or St. Joseph County).

Student Apprentice Program - A year round program. Applicants audition in September in order to win a seat in the orchestra. There are several string positions available each year and a very limited number of wind/percussion positions. If you are interested in auditioning for a position please contact the Personnel Manager for the LaPorte County Symphony Orchestra.
